Yellow-billed Kite? |
I woke up this morning and looked out my bedroom window. Look what was greeting me! I haven't been able to figure out what this bird is for sure, but I think it's a Yellow-billed Kite! These birds aren't even supposed to occur in the U.S!

Great Kiskadee |
Then on my way out the door, I looked out at the mountains near my house, and I saw an amazing sight. A Great Kiskadee was perched looking at me! Unbelievable! These birds are not supposed to be in Florida. They are supposed to be in Mexico and the southwest U.S!

Speckled Pigeon |
Then I drove to work and on the roof of my building was a Speckled Pigeon! These belong in Africa! Something strange is happening here today, and I can't figure it out. Three extreme rarities in one day!
LOL
ReplyDeleteWhere are you now? You're not in central FL if you're seeing mountains. I think you are the bird whisperer. lol
ReplyDeleteOr maybe birds are just really into April Fools Day. Or you are fooling us. ?
ReplyDeleteIs today April first? I hadn't noticed :-). You should know that I take my birds very seriously, as well as those famous Florida mountains. I would never use a lame excuse like April Fools day to post some of my early photographs from my travels to Mexico and Ethiopia, taken before I knew much about birds or wildlife photography.
ReplyDeleteGreat sighting at Mount ReallyNotThere!!!
ReplyDeleteWoah...
ReplyDeleteAlright Scott I've bought my ticket and am moving to Florida. I hope you're not fibbing.
Thanks! I hear that Mt. ReallyNotThere is even taller than Mt. Dora!
ReplyDeleteIf that means I end up with another birding buddy here, then I assure you I'm not fibbing--cross my fingers hope to live.
ReplyDeleteIf you count the mountains in Florida, that would be 4 rarities today. Well, there is Mount Dora! Fun post, Scott!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I knew I'd find a reason to use these photos.
