Scissor-tailed Flycatcher |
Today I'm on a business trip to Dallas, TX, and I had a little time this afternoon, so I went to a nearby lake--White Rock Lake. There's a beautiful park on the east side of the lake, and almost immediately upon entering the park, I found a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. This has been somewhat of a nemesis bird for me, but today I saw my first. I saw my first Great-tailed Grackle today too, but that wasn't nearly as fun as this.
Nice post Scott. I birded there many times while living in Dallas. Love the Scissor-Tails! Nice photos too.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a stunning bird! I have always wanted to see one of these beauties. Outstanding images!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. Reminds me of one glorious October day when I was birding in a park in Sheveport, Louisiana. The scissor-tailed flycatchers were gathering in preparation for migration and were sitting on every shrub and piece of grass.
ReplyDeleteWow! Now that would be fun to see.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie. I had to stop the car in the road to get my first set of pictures on the wire, but then I saw two more after I parked legitimately. :-)
ReplyDeleteCool! It was a fun place for birding. I'll probably go there, or someplace else, tomorrow morning.
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous Flycatcher!!! Great photos, especially the last one. I was hoping you saw that one around here!
ReplyDeleteCOngrats on the sighting, Scott-great photos. Never seen this wonderful bird, haven't been the territory at the right time. Have you done birding along the Rio Grande? There's a wealth of unusual and exciting birds there.
