Ospreys at Central Winds Park, 3/16/2012

Osprey
I had a meeting in Lake Mary today, so on my way home I dropped by Central Winds Park.  I wasn't going to stop, but I saw several Osprey flying over the park, and they enticed me.  I had about a half hour to spend there, so I didn't see a whole lot.  As I was leaving, I saw an Osprey landing on a light post with a fish.  I thought I was going to be able to watch it eat, but almost as soon as it landed, it took off, flying in a hurry and calling incessantly.  As it disappeared behind the trees I put my camera down only to see a Bald Eagle in hot pursuit.  All the action happened behind the treeline, and I didn't see it, but just for a second I did see the Bald Eagle with a fish and the Osprey in pursuit.  It just kills me that I wasn't able to capture the "exchange," but at least I was able to come home with photos of an Osprey with his catch.  Thieving eagles!

  1. Marvelous Osprey images! Great catch for you, the eagle ... and not so much the osprey.
