Ghost Crab
One good ghost deserves another, I suppose. Spiders aren't the only arthropods with living ghosts.  Crabs have them too.  Saturday I was at the beach with my family, and we had a chance to enjoy this Ghost Crab. Ghost crabs get their name from their generally pale coloration and tendency to feed at night. We gave this one enough attention that it decide to burrow into the sand to hide itself.  My seven-year old daughter wasn't fooled.  "I can see you!" she called a few times.  I love seeing her enjoy nature.  Now we just need to work on getting her to do it without freaking out the wildlife.  I took these shots with my point and shoot camera. I so wish I had my macro lens with me so I could have more control over depth of field.  However, I'm pretty happy again with what the Canon S100 HS can do.

  1. Great shots of the crab! Now, if you can just get an image of a Ghost Orchid, you can complete a photographic "trifecta"!
