Shortly after Christmas I went to Crane's Roost near my home, and I was able to get pretty close to a Little Blue Heron as it was fishing near shore. I was close enough that I was unable to include the whole bird in the frame with my 400mm lens. The water behind the bird was very still and clear, and it mirrored the sky extremely well. So the photos I took of this heron look to me like they could have been shot with an upward angle from below the bird with the sky in the background. Because of this, these are some of my favorite Little Blue Heron photos.
wow. one of my favorite all-time bird species. That first shot is really exceptional--were you using a tripod? It's so amazingly sharp! Inspiring. Thanks. =)

ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I wasn't using a tripod with this. I had enough light to get a pretty fast shutter speed.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
