Summer Tanager |
This was a pretty great birding day at Mead Gardens [
gallery]. I met up with the Orange Audubon Society, and we saw plenty to keep us interested. Probably the biggest highlight of the morning was seeing a Short-Tailed Hawk. I did take one picture of it, but it was so far away before I could get it in focus that there's not much to see. I'm including my photo of it at the bottom, just because it's the first I've ever seen. Forgive the noisiness of my images!

Black & White Warbler |
We saw many different types of warblers today--my first of the year were a Hooded Warbler, Ovenbird, and a Black & White Warbler. Some others in our group saw a Magnolia Warbler, though I didn't see him. We also saw two Bald Eagles soaring together. They were so far away that I didn't bother including any photos here.

Here is my list of bird species that we saw today. All in all, a great day, and thanks again to the Orange Audubon Society for hosting the walk. Mead Gardens is in Winter Park, just east of 17/92.
