Nanday Parakeet
Today I went to Ft. De Soto Park for about an hour on my way to work.  I had no idea where to go in the park; I had no idea it was so large. So I need to do some research before going back again. But I did see some Nanday Parakeets, about 30 of them, while I was there. This is the first time I've seen any parakeet outside of a cage, so it wasp pretty nice to see.

  1. Cool looking bird! Have they pretty well established feral populations in that area?

    1. Yes, from what I've read, they've established self-sustaining populations in the St. Petersburg area, and I'm not too far from there. Thanks!

  2. Colorful acrobats, but much better than a circus!

    1. They are fun to watch! I especially liked the one hanging by one foot.

  3. im an amateur birder from Ontario.  by the pool in Venice Fla. yesterday i saw a flock of maybe 30 birds fly by that were yellow with black wings.  flew like parrots buy I've only seen green parrots here and in small flocks.  thought cedar waxwings for a minute but too colourfull.  only thing I can find is the Nanday Parakeet.  any thoughts
