Merritt Island NWR, 11/15/2011

Osprey

This morning I went to Merritt Island NWR. We first stopped by the Max Brewer Bridge and found several shorebirds, Long-billed Dowitcher, Sanderling, and Ruddy Turnstone.  We also saw several Osprey fishing.  From there we went to Blackpoint Dr., where we saw Eurasian Wigeon, Gadwall, Northern Pintail, American Avocet, and all the usual herons and egrets. After leaving Blackpoint Dr, we saw about 8 American Kestrels perched on power lines and trees along the road.
